Note workshop walk-in space is limited; first come first served. 11-11:45am: Plant Propagation Workshop Learn about plant propagation and help GCC pot up plants with Joanne Zhao, Nursery Senior Manager. 12-12:30pm: Urban-Adapted Native Plant Walk Take a plant-focused walking tour of the gardens at the Lowlands Nursery and 300 Huntington Esplanade with Krysten Watson, Garden Manager. 1-2:30pm: Tree Care Workshop Learn about street trees and lend a hand caring for tree beds on 2nd Avenue with Aurelia Casey, Youth Program Senior Manager. \*This workshop will start at 25 9th Street. 2-3pm: Water Quality 101 Take a deep dive into water quality in the Gowanus Canal and how constructing ribbed mussel habitat could improve Canal health with Jen Kepler, Education Program Senior Manager. 3-3:45pm: Compost Workshop Learn the basics of how composting works and different kinds of compost systems, including a detailed look at the Nursery’s new compost windrow, with Reggie Germain, Nursery Coordinator.

This program requires walking on some uneven terrain (mulch, gravel). A portable restroom is available on site. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
