The East Side Coastal Resiliency (ESCR) Project is a coastal protection initiative aimed at reducing flood risk due to coastal storms and sea level rise on Manhattan’s East Side, including East River Park. Visitors will see the resiliency project under construction, as well as newly opened amenities including fields and a pedestrian bridge over the FDR. The tour will provide a behind the scenes perspective on the work, the engineering behind it, and the opportunity to ask questions of construction and design experts.

Visitors will see the resiliency project under construction, as well as newly opened amenities including fields and a pedestrian bridge over the FDR. Led by the New York City Department of Design and Construction, the tour will provide a behind-the-scenes perspective on the work, the engineering behind it, and the opportunity to ask questions of construction and design experts.
Only the previously opened park areas are ADA compliant - the tour of the active construction site is unfortunately not accessible. Please note that the tour is open to the elements and walking can be challenging. Long pants are required. Boots are preferred, closed toed shoes at a minimum - folks with open toed shoes will unfortunately not be able to enter the construction site. PPE, hard hats, and vests will be provided and attendees are required to wear all provided equipment throughout the tour.
