Since 1848, the historic Church of the Transfiguration (Episcopal) has been providing a beautiful, safe, welcoming space to visitors from all denominations and from around the world. From serving as a stop on the Underground Railroad to being the first NYC church to do funerals for actors, “The Little Church Around the Corner” has always been an inclusive and welcoming place. Come hear these stories and more during one of our interesting and informative tours. And don’t miss the spectacular musical performances on our Fiske organ or our Bosendorfer piano! The Episcopal Actors’ Guild, which has supported the arts and artists in New York City for a century, will be opening their fascinating archives, and some of their members will be singing, as well. Tours and performances will be held throughout the weekend. **Saturday ** – **Architecture Tours:** 10:15am, 12:30pm, & 2:15pm about the History, Art, and Architecture of the Church of the Transfiguration – **Family Concert: **11:45am by Dr. Claudia Dumschat, Director of Music, performing some best-loved organ pieces on our magnificent Fisk organ, with special activities for children – **Piano Concert**: 3:00pm by world-renowned artist Matei Varga playing our sumptuous Bosendorfer grand piano (once owned by William F. Buckley!). He will perform Schumann’s Fantasie Op. 17 in C major and Beethoven’s Piano Sonata Op. 111, in C minor. **Sunday** – **Theatre Tour**: 1:00pm of the Church with special emphasis on its history with the theater community and the famous actors who have been associated with the Church (including the legendary story of how we became “The Little Church Around the Corner”). – **Concert “Celebration of Song”: **2:00pm with the Episcopal Actors’ Guild will be A Tribute to Broadway, the Street of Dreams, featuring beloved show tunes and stories from EAG members, Broadway actors, and a sing-along with the audience, too! – **Recorrido en Espanol: **3:30pm tour in Spanish of the History, Art, and Architecture of the Church, followed by a bi-lingual reception and a Spanish-language mass at 5:00 p.m. – **Songwriter Rounds at Houghton Hall Arts Community:** 5:00-8:00pm our new rehearsal and teaching space for the performing arts. Join us for Nashville Style Songwriter Rounds, where songwriters showcase their original tunes and the stories behind them! NOTE: Enter around the corner at 22 East 30th Street. **Family Programming**: A special family-friendly concert will be held on Saturday at 11:45 am
