A note from our Executive Director

“Open House New Yorkers ask such smart questions!”

This is a remark I hear over and over, from OHNY Weekend partners and City officials alike. As a community, you have earned quite a reputation.

Quenching a curiosity about how the city works is the foundation of the 300+ programs we produced this year. What did you explore? What did you learn? What did you question?

Perhaps it was a visit to the MTA Signal School, a boat tour to the Bronx, a book talk on affordable housing, a panel on redlining in Staten Island, or a reminder that our skyline always shines bright

Or maybe you were one of the 50,000 participants in OHNY Weekend, our citywide festival that reached New Yorkers in 80% of the city’s zip codes.

It is only through the generosity of our partners, our volunteers, and supporters like you that makes this work possible.

Bringing New Yorkers together to share the experience of the city is a profoundly simple yet deeply democratic act—one rooted in learning, connection, and joy.

If you agree, we now turn the tables to ask: Will you consider making a tax-deductible donation to support Open House New York?

On this day of global giving, your support will help us keep the lights on and the doors open in 2025.

With gratitude,
Kristin LaBuz

PS – Our gift to you: This December, our team is presenting OHNY at Night, a blitz of tours with lighting designers at projects across the city.
