Scott Lauer

Founder

Scott Lauer created Open House New York in 2001 inspired by his belief in the power of design to enhance our lives and solve problems in our communities. Starting with no funding or staff, he built support within the design and civic communities and created innovative programs to engage the public in important issues and projects. The annual Open House New York Weekend is one of America’s largest architecture and design events, educating and informing more than one million New Yorkers and visitors since 2003. Lauer has also consulted with organizations in Denver, Chicago, San Diego, Los Angeles and beyond to help build Open House programs in those cities. There are more than 50 Open House and Doors Open programs around the world, many inspired by Open House New York.
