Meet Andréa Cara, Volunteer Coordinator

Andréa Cara joined Open House New York as Volunteer Coordinator in August 2019. Andréa is responsible for recruiting and managing Open House New York’s team of more than 1,000 volunteers who are assigned to each of the 300+ sites that will be opening their doors this October for OHNY Weekend. Her career prior to OHNY spanned across art, politics, and communications. She recently returned from a year in London, where she wrote a thesis on the role of heritage and preservation in the regeneration of the historic London Docklands. A lifelong volunteer, Andréa has volunteered for a number of organizations including the New York Junior League, JDRF and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Andréa received a MA from New York University in Historic and Sustainable Architecture, and a BA from the University of Michigan in History, Art History and Museum Studies.
