August 2nd, 2016
7:00PM - 9:00PM
Presentation by Alfreda Radzicki, AIA, LEED AP, Principal, FXFOWLE
Open House New York members are invited to a presentation by FXFOWLE on the design of La Central, a new mixed-use development in the South Bronx. With five buildings totaling over one million square feet on a 4.28 acre site, it is the largest remaining parcel of city-owned land in the Bronx. The project will include nearly 1000 units of affordable housing, including 140 units of supportive housing for individuals with special needs and 20 units for homeless veterans with mental illness. The development also includes a vibrant mix of retail, community, and recreation spaces, including a new YMCA, a skate park, BronxNet Television Studios, an urban agriculture facility operated by GrowNYC, and more. La Central is expected to be completed in 2019.
Projects in Planning
Open House New York’s Projects in Planning series explores a single project in its early stages of development to deepen public awareness and understanding of notable developments on the boards across the five boroughs, and how the project is shaping the city’s future growth and accessibility.
