A quarter-century after the darkest day in the city’s modern history, the World Trade Center has been almost completely rebuilt, serving as a destination within an increasingly mixed-use Financial District (or FiDi, if you like). Today’s WTC complex is far from a standard office park, with arts and cultural facilities, retail, and a stirring memorial and park all woven between skyscrapers containing millions of square feet of commercial office space atop a bustling 24-hour transit hub serving both New York and New Jersey.
