
Weekend Spotlight: Brooklyn Navy Yard
Brooklyn Navy Yard’s Open House is a festival unto itself, with 35+ trailblazing businesses in fashion, design, and technology opening their doors for behind-the-scenes access. Participate in hands-on demos, exclusive tours, and immersive activations that reveal how ideas become reality, plus enjoy food from local vendors and live entertainment.

On Saturday, October 18, from 12-5pm, check in at either of these two locations to get a map of the campus and start exploring!

Join tours, talks, and informational sessions to dive deeper into material innovation and creative production at the Yard. At registration, visitors can sign up for these timed programs on a first-come, first-served basis.
- 12:30 p.m. & 1:30 p.m. | Architect-led Tour with Ruth Ro of Building 303. Explore this modern manufacturing building with Ruth Ro, Partner at Dattner Architects. Visit the green roof and the 50,000 square foot top floor with incredible views of the Yard and waterfront.
- 12:30, 2:30 & 3:30 | Studio & Fabrication Tour with Scott Jordan Furniture. Discover Scott Jordan’s blend of modern technology and heirloom quality furniture in this guided studio tour, highlighting each step of the solid wood manufacturing process.
- 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. & 4:00 p.m. | Drop-In Figure Drawing with Multiple Artists. Join artists Tracy Wuischpard, Bruce Tovsky, and Jon Levy-Warren as they showcase current work and introduce a new figurative drawing Drop-In program. All skill levels welcome, and materials will be provided.
- 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. & 3:30 p.m. | Artist Talk with Minku Kim Studio. Join Minku Kim for a reflective artist talk and Q&A tracing his 20-year journey—from student to working artist—accompanied by light snacks, drinks, and music.
- 2 pm & 3:30 pm | Studio Tour with Campos Handbags Inc. With more than forty years of experience as an artisan, founder Roy Campos will lead a lively tour covering his beginnings as a shoemaker to how he approaches crafting his leather goods today.
- 3:00 p.m. | Meet the Manager Fireside Chat. Hear directly from Yard-based businesses about today’s careers in manufacturing, design, energy tech and industrial fields. Designed to demystify recruitment, this conversation will offer practical insights into the hiring process and the skills needed to thrive in the jobs of tomorrow.
- 3:00 p.m. | 2026 Public Art RFP Info Session. This talk offers tips on navigating the application process for Brooklyn Forged, the Yard’s 2026 public art open call. Open to all creatives who live in Brooklyn.
- 4:00 p.m. | Artist Talk & Demo with Millie Benson. Artist Millie Benson will give a talk on her vibrant and performative paintings inspired by the cosmos and color theory.
Activities, Food & Drink
Get active with family-friendly games, live DJs, Double Dutch, and pickleball, or explore the Brooklyn Navy Yard: Past, Present & Future history exhibition in Building 92. Food and drink is available for purchase from the Market @77 food hall on the ground floor of Building 77, including Pizza Yard, Russ & Daughters, She Wolf Bakery, Transmitter Brewing, and Rustik Tavern, plus additional food truck options.
