July 28, 2026—Mark your calendars for a weekend of exploration, discovery, and behind-the-scenes access: On October 16-18, 2026, Open House New York will present Open House New York Weekend (OHNY Weekend), an annual five-borough festival offering 300 ways for curious New Yorkers to explore the city through the lens of design, culture, and infrastructure.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, Open House New York was founded in the wake of 9/11 with a mission to provide New Yorkers with unparalleled access to the city by, quite literally, opening doors to skyscrapers, sanitation garages, City Hall, and everything in between—including places not typically open to the public.

Since 2003, OHNY Weekend has unlocked thousands of sites across the city, inviting New Yorkers to gain a deeper understanding of the city through tours, talks, and special activities, led by architects, engineers, designers, public servants, community advocates, curators, and more. In 2025, the festival drew 50,000 participants representing 89% of the city's zip codes, along with visitors from across the region and around the world.

“OHNY Weekend is a choose-your-own adventure for curious New Yorkers,” said Kristin LaBuz, Executive Director of Open House New York. “Whether you discover something new in your own neighborhood, or venture to a corner of the city you’ve never been to, OHNY Weekend invites you to learn how this complex city functions—and have fun doing it.”

The full 2026 OHNY Weekend lineup drops on September 25, 2026. While the majority of the 300+ sites require zero advance registration—allowing New Yorkers to simply walk right in—a select number of locations will require tickets. Ticketing opens on October 2, 2026.

Last year, OHNY Weekend invited New Yorkers to peek inside ConEd’s East River Generating Station, visit the Fulton Fish Market at 3 AM, tour the iconic lobby of the Woolworth Building, and marvel at salvaged neon at the New York Sign Museum at Noble Signs.

OHNY Weekend is produced by Open House New York, a nonprofit organization that promotes broad, unparalleled access to the city—to the places, people, projects, systems, and ideas that define New York and its future. Through year-round programming, including the annual Open House New York Weekend festival, OHNY offers a citywide platform for education, exploration, and engagement about the connections between quality of place and quality of life for all New Yorkers.

The 2026 festival is made possible with support from Bloomberg Connects. Public support is provided by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the New York City Council. Additional support is provided by the Lily Auchincloss Foundation, TD Bank, Brooklyn Army Terminal & MADE Bush Terminal, New York Building Foundation, NYC Ferry, the Richard Hampton Jenrette Foundation, and M&T Bank.
