OHNY Weekend First Look: from the Waterfront to the Red Room

AUGUST 20, 2025

We have less than two months to go! Open House New York Weekend is October 17-19, 2025. New Yorkers gain access to 300 special spaces for ONE weekend a year, from members-only clubs and artist studios to architectural landmarks and hard hat infrastructure tours.

Check out some of our favorite spots and activities available during this year's OHNY Weekend, some for the very first time.

Luxurious store interior with tall art deco windows, red patterned walls, and modern white display stands.
Grand Army Plaza’s stone triumphal arch with statues, people walking, and cyclists passing in Brooklyn, New York.
Eclectic living room with bold colors, striped floor, mismatched furniture, and vibrant decor accents.
Large open office building with glass walls, indoor greenery, and views of trees and city buildings outside.
A person smiles and points at turtles swimming in a large aquarium inside a building.

New Destinations

Go behind the scenes at Printemps in the Financial District, a legendary French department store’s first outpost in the US that occupies part of a landmarked Art Deco building’s lobby.

Peek inside the newly restored Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch at Grand Army Plaza in Park Slope with NYC Parks Urban Park Rangers, a tribute to Civil War soldiers and sailors that just emerged sparkling from a $8.9 million restoration by Prospect Park Alliance.

Snag a first look at MADE Bush Terminal in Sunset Park, a brand new waterfront hub for manufacturers, artisans, designers, and entrepreneurs.

Row Rocking the Boat’s student-built vessels along Bronx River. NYC’s only freshwater river has been transformed from polluted waterway to nature and wildlife habitat.

Climb aboard Yankee Ferry, a former Ellis Island ferry that’s now a palatial floating home in Staten Island.

Returning Favorites

The Ford Foundation Center for Social Justice (CANCELLED), headquartered in an iconic midtown Modernist building designed by Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo and Associates, will offer access to its atrium garden and gallery, as well as its 11th floor overlook and auditorium—not usually open to the public—for OHNY Weekend visitors.

For three decades, The Brotherhood Sister Sol has worked to empower Black and Latinx youth through mentorship, environmental justice advocacy, and the arts. Tours of their Harlem center, including a rooftop basketball court funded by Kevin Durant, will be offered during the festival.

Over 1,000 tons of residential recycling is received and processed each day at Sunset Park Materials Recovery Facility. OHNY Weekend visitors will learn the ins and outs of recycling and see the enormous tip floor and machinery that sorts and prepares the materials for sale.

Mark these dates in your calendar so you don't miss a single spot.
