L10 Arts and Cultural Center Open House
L10 Arts and Cultural Center opened its doors on Saturday, March 29, for a first look at Downtown Brooklyn’s brand-new home for visual and performing arts. Nearly 500 guests stopped in for dancing, design, poetry, art, costumes from the archives, and joyful community celebration.
Visitors were able to explore the spaces created for 651 ARTS, Brooklyn Public Library Arts & Culture Branch, Brooklyn Academy of Music KBH and Hamm Archives, and the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts Gallery II.
The design teams from Andrea Steele Architecture and SITU Fabrication shared insights on the building’s design and construction, muralist Katie Merz created drawings for visitors to take home, Fried Dynamite DJs Run P., Trevor Banks, and host Specks “Funky” Johnson played cookout classics, and Illy W of Illy’s Dance Clash got the crowd moving.
This event was produced with support from the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership.

About L10
Built with support from the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs and the NYC Economic Development Corporation, L10 Arts & Cultural Center is the first multidisciplinary arts hub of its kind in New York City and is part of a larger mixed-use development that includes affordable housing, retail, and a public plaza. Dedicated to fostering cultural expression and social equity, the L10 Center strives to promote accessibility and amplify underrepresented voices across the arts. As a community anchor within the Downtown Brooklyn Cultural District, L10 is designed to foster collaboration among its partner institutions while serving as a vibrant gathering place where New Yorkers of all ages can learn, create, and connect.
Programming at L10 will include performances, film screenings, lectures, and exhibitions that elevate the creativity and diverse voices of Brooklyn and beyond. The Center is envisioned as an oasis of cultural engagement that celebrates Brooklyn’s creative voice while offering resources and support for artists, scholars, and community members alike.
