Now Hiring: Program Coordinator (Full-time)

Open House New York seeks an energetic and curious professional to serve as Program Coordinator. This position works with a variety of individuals and organizations to co-create and organize OHNY’s programs, including the annual Open House New York Weekend, the Urban Systems series, and other year-round activities.

This position requires 5+ years of experience in programming and/or community engagement across a range of activities, including workshops, surveys, tours, symposia, exhibitions, or other formats. The successful candidate will also bring a skill set and know how to collaborate with partners on virtual and in- person activities. The Program Coordinator will be an integral part of a small but growing and ambitious team. This position will best suit a detail-oriented self-starter who is able to problem-solve and effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously. A sense of humor and optimism alongside ideas about New York’s future will also be important for this role. The position is an ideal platform to explore themes and issues around the civic, physical, social, cultural, economic, and environmental future of cities in general and New York in particular. This is a unique opportunity to work at a fast-paced civic non-profit committed to catalyzing access, transparency, and equity across the five boroughs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Play key supporting role in organizing the annual OHNY Weekend, the annual festival held each October that opens up hundreds of places around New York City for broad public access. Tasks will include all aspects of the event including but not limited to:
    • Utilizing project management software to track progress, milestones, and team assignments for successful implementation of OHNY Weekend
    • Stewarding partnerships with 250+ organizations and individuals to coordinate their participation
    • Collecting detailed data from 250+ partners and ensuring accurate and complete data entry into program database and OHNY website
    • Drafting communications, including partner communications and public-facing web and print collateral
    • Other responsibilities as needed
  • Support the conceptualization and execution of a combination of in-person and virtual public programs year-round by:
    • Creating and adopting project management templates from concept through completion and closeout for each individual program
    • Utilizing project management software to track progress, milestones, and team assignments for successful implementation of programs
    • Collecting detailed data from program partners, speakers, etc. and ensuring accurate and complete data entry into program database and OHNY website
    • Maintaining programming calendar (both internally- and externally- facing)
    • Assisting with program development: conducting research, developing program content, identifying and stewarding partners and active participants
    • Serving as public face of OHNY as needed
  • Collect and analyze data for monitoring and evaluating program impact
  • Support the integration of new systems, processes, and protocols
  • Develop presentations (for internal and external use)
  • Other technical and administrative support as needed

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with public-facing programs from concept through completion
  • Experience and proven track record facilitating team meetings to track progress and assignments
  • Fluency with project management software (e.g. Asana) and databases (e.g. Airtable)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe CreativeSuite, WordPress, Zoom, etc.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at once and work independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to racial equity and the principles of diversity, openness, and access
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends

Experience and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of urban planning, urban studies, community development, or related field
  • Skilled in problem-solving, escalating problems, and asking for help
  • Willingness to actively contribute to team culture and organizational growth
  • Comfortable initiating and maintaining relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Curiosity and passion for New York City

More information

Salary is commensurate with experience, in the range of $50,000 – $55,000. Full benefits provided, including health insurance and retirement contribution. This is not a remote position.
