Series Description

Inspired by NYC’s new Green Economy Action Plan, Open House New York has curated a selection of places across all five boroughs that reveal how sustainable design and investments are reshaping the way we build, work, move goods, and generate power in New York City. During OHNY Weekend, selected experiences will provide you with an in-depth understanding of how the city’s transition to a green economy will touch the lives of every New Yorker.

Projects will highlight how the essential work of creating a more sustainable city can galvanize efforts to address a host of challenges. Learn about how the strategic diversification of the city’s workforce with new green jobs is breathing new life into areas like the Brooklyn Army Terminal and Governor’s Island. Discover how nonprofit organizations are building social capital and addressing environmental injustices by restoring underwater ecosystems and greening rooftops. And get an up-close look at how things like passive housing design and modular construction can help us address the city’s housing shortage.
