WSFSSH at West 108 opened its doors in 2021 and is now home to over 250 low-income seniors and families in Manhattan Valley. The building offers permanent supportive studios for formerly homeless individuals, affordable one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, and a transitional shelter called Valley Lodge that has served seniors in this neighborhood since 1988. WSFSSH at West 108 is also home to a federally qualified health center, the Central Park Medical Unit ambulances, and more. Construction was financed using federal low-income housing tax credits and a variety of state and city affordable housing subsidy programs. On this guided tour, learn how modern affordable housing and transitional shelters are designed and operated, and see firsthand the result of years of thoughtful collaboration between many partners that made this new home possible.

Building Capital Series How does the combination of financial, cultural, and community capital enrich quality of life? The "Building Capital: Value of Place" series showcases places that play a vital role fostering community connections and local culture, telling the story of how the space was designed, built, and financed, how it’s being used, and how they contribute to the financial security and well-being of residents long displaced by systemic racism. Building Capital is the latest installment of OHNY’s Urban Systems program and is presented in partnership with Bloomberg Connects.
