St. Michael’s Episcopal Church’s current building was built in 1891 and is the third on this site. Designed by architect Robert W. Gibson, it is made of Indiana limestone in the Northern Italian Renaissance or Romanesque-Byzantine style. The style was a daring departure in church architecture at the time. The church is enhanced with chancel decorations by Tiffany Glass and Decorating Company and features St. Michael’s Victory in Heaven, a famous seven-panel reredos behind the main altar.  A guided tour/lecture presentation will be offered first-come, first-served on both Saturday and Sunday at 3pm.
