Come see the reality and magic of re-building a rooftop farm space first hand! Sky Farm LIC is a one-acre educational rooftop farm space atop the Standard Motors Building in Long Island City. Originally the first farm of Brooklyn Grange, Sky Farm LIC was put to fallow in 2020, and then handed over to the nonprofit Variety Boys and Girls Club of Queens (VBGCQ) in 2023.

Join VBGCQ for a farm tour with our Farm Manager, Alexa Curnette, and learn about what it takes to re-create a farm space for a new purpose of educational nonprofit work including: construction, cover cropping, composting, decorating, crop selection, and more. Learn about our experiential based curriculum including farm based arts and crafts, gardening tasks, and more. Taste a few edible flowers and vegetables with our farm crew, and enjoy an exciting and up and coming space in beautiful Queens!

The farm is not wheelchair accessible at the moment. Our space is a working farm and includes several considerations, including but not limited to gravel/uneven pathways, higher levels of wind, full sun exposure, bee hives, and potential tripping hazards.

PLEASE NOTE: There are active bee hives on site. While the hives are off-limits, bees are actively pollinating and present in our fields at all times.

Children 6+ are welcome with accompanying adult.

Sheltered storage for items such as bags, strollers, and backpacks is unavailable. No animals are permitted on the farm.

Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and clothing for the outdoors.

There are several HVAC units on the roof and a train yard to our south, so be prepared for a bit of ambient noise.
