Henry Street Settlement has been opening the doors of opportunity for New Yorkers for 130 years. Learn about Henry Street’s history as a visiting nurse service that pioneered public health nursing, and take a deep dive into the world of the Settlement’s founder Lillian Wald and her numerous social reform accomplishments, including creating New York City’s school lunch program and Seward Park (the first municipally-built playground in the United States) and helping to found the NAACP. During this private tour with Katie Vogel, the Settlement’s public historian, you will get to experience the historic former home of Lillian Wald at 265 Henry Street (now Henry Street’s present-day headquarters) and the House on Henry Street history exhibition.
