One of the largest industrial buildings in the Brooklyn Navy Yard is now home to Crye Precision, which develops and manufactures tactical apparel and gear for the armed forces. After the building was restored and converted into a contemporary design and manufacturing facility, Crye commissioned Camber Studio to create a series of sculptural amenity spaces to enliven the expansive central hall and mark a new chapter within a building with a rich history of American innovation and industrial might.

The centerpiece of the project is a large fitness center which floats within the middle of the facility and includes an open studio, gym, and climbing wall. The two sides of the fitness center stand on either side of a 70-foot-long pedestrian bridge and are connected by a sculptural tunnel. Surrounding the fitness center are five balcony spaces which have been built out to accommodate informal meetings and rest.

Construction was completed over the summer of 2021. The OHNY tours will be the first time the spaces will be open the public.

Camber is a special projects studio offering services in architectural design, fabrication, and videography from a workshop located in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Tours will be led by Camber Studio’s founder and director, Wes Rozen.
