Join an immersive 1.5-hour walking tour of the organization’s operations on Governors Island, including the exhibit hours, oyster sites and the shell pile.  Based on Governors Island, Billion Oyster Project is restoring oyster populations to New York Harbor in collaboration with NYC communities and through public education initiatives, in turn improving water quality, fostering new marine habitats, and creating greater coastal resilience. Visit Billion Oyster Project’s house to see an oyster display and learn more about ecosystems and these engineers, their importance to New York Harbor, and how everyone can get involved. **Saturday & Sunday Tours**: 12:30, 1:30, & 2:30pm  Tours are about 1.25 hours and limited to 25 people, first-come first-served. Guests must arrive at least 10 minutes before the tour start time. Late comers will not be able to join a tour after it begins. The total distance covered is just under 2 miles. Participants with strollers or baby carriers should note that terrain and stairs may vary.

Participants with strollers or baby carriers should note that terrain and stairs may vary.

Governors Island can be reached via NYC Ferry (various routes) as well as the Governors Island Ferry at 10 South Street, Manhattan. Ferries typically depart promptly on schedule, so plan your route and travel time accordingly. The total distance covered on the walking tour is just under 2 miles. The walking tour route includes uneven terrain and may not be suitable for wheelchairs, strollers, or individuals with mobility limitations. While the walking tour is suitable for participants of all ages, those with strollers or baby carriers should note that terrain and stairs may vary. Participants are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated on the walk. Water fountains are available throughout the island.
