Based on Governors Island, Billion Oyster Project is restoring oyster populations to New York Harbor in collaboration with NYC communities and through public education initiatives, in turn improving water quality, fostering new marine habitats, and creating greater coastal resilience. Visit Billion Oyster Project’s house to see an oyster display of Harbor-grown oysters, and learn more about ecosystems and these engineers, their importance to New York Harbor, and how everyone can get involved.

Governors Island can be reached via NYC Ferry (various routes) as well as the Governors Island Ferry at 10 South Street, Manhattan. Ferries typically depart promptly on schedule, so plan your route and travel time accordingly.
