Karen Stonely, AIA LEED AP, an architect and artist, co-founded SPAN Architecture. SPAN’s internationally award-winning work unites a diverse array of experiences as practitioners, teachers, artists and theorists, and has graced the covers of Architectural Digest, Interior Design, and Dwell’s “15 Best Modern Houses in the Past 15 Years.” Karen concurrently pursues public service and mentorship. SPAN completed the office for the NY Council for the Humanities and the Kips Bay Boys and Girl’s Club Design Showroom pro bono. Most recently, SPAN has been selected to be featured at the 2019 SXSW and the AIA Convention SAY IT LOUD Exhibition elevating the contributions of minority and women architects. Karen is a member of The Mainstay Charlie Byrd Society and founded LAAB (Life as a Brain) to sustain rare neurological research and support. She received a Bachelor of Art and Architecture from Rice University.
