Exhibition Tour: Book of HOV at Brooklyn Public Library

Opened this July to great buzz at Brooklyn Central Library, the Book of HOV is a tribute exhibition recognizing Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter’s journey from Brooklyn’s Marcy Projects to a global mogul. From the New York Times:

Featuring artwork, music, memorabilia, ephemera and large-scale recreations of touchstones from a sprawling career, “The Book of Hov,” might seem more at home at the Brooklyn Museum down the block. But by installing the showcase across eight zones of a functioning library, its architects are aiming to bring aspirational celebrity extravagance to a free public haven just a few miles from the Marcy Houses where Jay-Z grew up.

How did the library pull this off? What has it meant in terms of visitor engagement? Is the library the new museum? Find out at an insider tour of this exhibition, led by Brooklyn Public Library staff.

Book of HOV is free and open to the public, but spots for our tour are limited. This event is closed to Metropolitan Members. Interested in joining MetropolitanLearn more and sign up now! For more information contact [email protected].
